Couch Crush
I think I found my happy place. Call me a loser but I think it’s at Ikea. I don’t know what it is about that place but I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when I’m there. Kind of like how normal people feel around Christmas time. I’ve never tried the food there though…you have to draw the line somewhere. I was there last weekend and absolutely fell in love with the Karlstad couch in the Isunda grey color. If ever there was a perfect couch, it would be this. Its modern but still accessible and its icy grey color goes with almost anything.
You light up my life
Here are a few images of some of the most original lighting pieces I’ve seen in a while. From snaking pendants to antique geometric wire frames, they all illuminate their spaces in a unique way. I especially love the first photo for how contemporary and calm the room looks due to those pendants above the bed.

Monochrome and Cognac
I had to share this Copenhagen home tour with you because it features one of my favorite color schemes: monochrome and cognac.

Take me to Malmo
I couldn’t resist posting photos of this Malmo, Sweden 18th century flat. Because of its grand, Belle Epoque feel, the owners decided to decorate it sparingly allowing the architecture and character of the building to shine through. I particularly love how everyday objects are used as display pieces here. And take a look at that office/closet!

Poutineville—Greasy food cures all
I know Poutine Week was at the beginning of February but what the hell? Here’s the story behind this tantalizing photo: I was having a rough couple of weeks. To say the least. So what do friends do when you’re down in the dumps? They take you out for greasy food that’ll momentarily make you feel better! My friend Sabrina suggested we try Poutineville and I’m glad she did. We went to the one located on Beaubien and will definitely be going back. When you sit down to order they bring you a sample of their specialty potato called “ecrasee” (crushed), but I decided to stick with classic fries. The great thing about Poutineville is that you can create your own poutine from scratch from a wide array of ingredients. I ordered the “godfather” poutine—a concoction of tomato sauce (of course), hot peppers, sausage, onions, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. Basically, all the good stuff. I was so engrossed in my poutine that I forgot to take a photo so this one’s from overlavish.blogspot.ca
I would definitely recommend this place for those late night poutine cravings we Montrealers tend to have!

Meet the artist…
Here’s a peek into the office of one of the artists we feature at lili&gen—River Luna
Marisa Redondo works primarily with watercolor and oils and explores the organic and intricate patterns found in nature. My personal favorites have always been her feather prints.

Quirky Australian Home
It’s hard to say what I love most about this Australian home owned by Alpha 60 founders, Georgie and Alex Cleary. The large windows, clean lines? The quirky artwork and piano on the ceiling has got to take the cake though!
